With a little care, each piece can stay luminous for longer. Whether crafted in gold plating, gold vermeil, sterling silver, solid gold, enamel, pearls, diamonds, jade, or gemstones, your jewellery deserves to be worn with love and cared for with intention.
Everyday Care
Jewellery loves attention, but not everything it touches.
We recommend putting your jewellery on last and taking it off first. Apply skincare, perfume, makeup, sunscreen, and hair products before wearing your pieces, allowing them to dry before adorning yourself.
Avoid wearing jewellery while swimming, showering, exercising, sleeping, cleaning, gardening, or doing anything where your pieces may be pulled, knocked, bent, or exposed to moisture, sweat, chemicals, or impact.
Treat each piece like a small ritual: wear it with joy, remove it with care, and store it somewhere safe when the day is done.
Gold-Plated Jewellery
Gold-plated jewellery offers a golden glow for expressive, everyday styling.
Because gold plating is a fine layer of gold over a base metal, it should be treated gently. Avoid perfume, lotions, sweat, chlorine, salt water, and harsh chemicals, as these may affect the finish over time.
After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry, non-abrasive cloth. Do not use polishing cloths, jewellery dips, or abrasive cleaners, as these may remove the plating.
Store separately to prevent scratching and friction.
Gold vermeil offers a beautiful balance of luxury and wearability, with a layer of gold over sterling silver.
To keep your pieces glowing, avoid swimming, showering, exercising, sleeping, or applying perfume and skincare while wearing them. Like all non-solid gold finishes, gold vermeil may naturally soften or fade over time depending on wear and care.
After wearing, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store separately in a cool, dry place.
Extra care is recommended for rings and bracelets, as they experience more daily contact.
Sterling silver carries a clean, luminous presence, but it can naturally tarnish when exposed to air, moisture, perfume, sweat, and chemicals.
Wipe gently with a soft polishing cloth and store in a dry place when not worn. Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, salt water, cleaning products, and prolonged humidity.
If your silver piece includes gemstones, pearls, jade, or enamel, avoid soaking and clean with extra care.
A little patina is part of silver’s story, but with gentle care, its shine can always return.
Solid gold is made to stay — but even modern heirlooms need care.
Our solid gold pieces are designed for everyday wear and lasting value, yet they should still be protected from harsh chemicals, heavy impact, and abrasive surfaces. Remove before exercising, swimming, cleaning, lifting heavy objects, or doing anything that may damage delicate chains, settings, or stones.
To clean, use warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Dry gently with a soft cloth before storing.
We recommend checking clasps, settings, and fine chains regularly for signs of wear.
Enamel Jewellery
Enamel brings colour, joy, and personality to jewellery — but it should be treated with softness.
Although durable, enamel may chip, crack, or break if dropped, knocked, bent, or exposed to hard impact. Avoid wearing enamel during exercise, cleaning, swimming, or activities where the piece may strike a hard surface.
Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth and store separately to protect the finish.
Gemstones & Diamonds
Gemstones and diamonds each carry their own beauty, character, and nature.
Diamonds are strong, but they can still collect oils and residue from daily wear. Clean gently with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush, taking care around the setting.
Gemstones vary in hardness and sensitivity. Some are softer or more porous and may be affected by water, heat, chemicals, or ultrasonic cleaning. Avoid perfume, lotions, chlorine, salt water, and sudden temperature changes.
After wear, wipe gently and store separately to help prevent scratching.
Jade Jewellery
Jade carries a quiet sense of harmony, strength, and calm. Although jade is treasured for its durability, it should still be worn and cared for with intention.
Clean jade gently with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly before storing. Avoid acidic cleaners, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaning, steam cleaning, high heat, and prolonged moisture.
Store jade separately from diamonds, harder gemstones, and metal pieces that may scratch it. Remove before swimming, showering, exercising, sleeping, cleaning, or applying perfume, sunscreen, and skincare.
Wear jade with intention, and let it rest with care.
Pearls
Pearls are organic, luminous, and beautifully delicate. Keep pearls away from perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, sweat, chlorine, and harsh chemicals, as these can dull their natural glow. Put pearl jewellery on last, after skincare and fragrance have settled. After wearing, wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow them to dry before storing. Avoid soaking pearls or using jewellery cleaners. Store separately in a soft pouch or lined box.
Fine Chains, Rings & Delicate Details
Fine chains, hoops, rings, and delicate settings require mindful wear. Remove necklaces before changing clothes or sleeping to prevent stretching and tangling. Store chains flat or hanging, and avoid pulling them against clothing, hair, or bag straps. Remove rings before washing hands, applying lotion, cooking, cleaning, exercising, or lifting heavy objects. If you notice a loose stone, bent setting, weakened clasp, or change in shape, stop wearing the piece and contact our team for guidance.
Storage
Your jewellery should rest as beautifully as it is worn. Store each VUOI piece separately in its original pouch, box, or a soft-lined jewellery compartment. Keep jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, humidity, and extreme temperatures. For travel, keep each piece in its own pouch and avoid placing jewellery loose in handbags or cosmetic cases.
Warranty & Aftercare
We want your VUOI jewellery to be loved, worn, and cherished with confidence. All VUOI jewellery comes with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing faults or issues caused by the product itself. This may include faults in craftsmanship, settings, clasps, or structural details not related to wear and tear. Our warranty does not cover damage caused by everyday wear, accidental impact, improper care, exposure to water, perfume, chemicals, bending, scratching, tarnishing, plating wear, or loss of stones due to impact or misuse. If your piece has been damaged through wear, our Aftercare Team can assess your jewellery and guide you through available repair options, including polishing, re-plating, stone resetting, clasp repair, chain repair, or professional cleaning.
